Saint-Côme-d’Olt is a commune in the Aveyron department (OccitaniaFranceMassif Central). It is one of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (most beautiful villages of France).

Saint-Côme-d’Olt is located on the Le Puy route of the Way of St. James.

Main attractions

The village retains an ancient core, whose ramparts, now integrated into the houses and encircled by a small circular boulevard, have retained two of their three fortified gates, the Porte Neuve and the Porte Théron.

Notable buildings include the house of the consul of Rodelle, the Dufau house and that of Pons de Caylus, with its medieval tower. Until 1789, local justice was dispensed in the former Palais du Greffe, located within the town’s old fortifications.

Civil buildings

The former château, now the town hall, has been listed as a historic monument since 1999 for its facades, roofs and corner towers.

The bridge over the Lot river still has its 16th-century piers.

Religious buildings

The facades and roofs of the Penitent Chapel, or former Saint-Pierre de Boisse church, have been classified as a historic monument since 1995, the rest of the building being registered since 1991.

The Saint-Côme-et-Saint-Damien church has been listed as historic monuments since 1927.

To the northeast of the town, on the edge of the departmental road 987, the convent of Malet welcomed since the 12th century pilgrims on the road Santiago de Compostela.

Ouradou is an oratory erected after the end of the plague of 1586.
