The Château de Salettes is a castle which stands in the commune of Cahuzac-sur-Vère in the Tarn department, in the Occitania region (France).

The chateau is located in the heart of the Gaillac vineyards at the foothills of the Massif Central.

It dominates the Sodrome valley and faces the Mauriac castle.

The first constructions date from the 13th century. Salettes appears in texts from 1252 for his participation in the construction of the Sainte-Cécile cathedral in Albi. The associated church appeared in 1271 under the name “Saint-Saturnin de Salettes”.

The domain thus passed into the sub-branch of the lords of Puechmignon, second house of the Lautrecs. The castle remained the property of the Lautrecs during the 15th century. In the 16th century, Hugues III of Toulouse-Lautrec negotiated an entire part of the lordship of Salettes to Pierre d’Hautpoul, advisor to the parliament of Toulouse. His family, from Mazamet, chased out by Simon de Montfort, emigrated to Rennes-Les-Bains. Through the acquisition, Pierre d’Hautpoul was the founder of the Hautpoul-Salettes branch.

The future general of the Empire Jean Joseph Ange d’Hautpoul was born in the castle in 1754. In 1885, the d’Hautpoul family sold the Château de Salettes, which then passed into the hands of different owners.

In November 1994, Roger Paul Le Net bought the Salettes wines with the castle then in ruins. By deciding to create a hotel restaurant, he wanted to find the original structure and combine it with the design of our time. In July 1999, a new page in the history of the castle began. Now the castles houses 4star hotel.
