Andorra Telecom has selected Cisco Systems for the enrollment of Wi-Fi network in Andorra (Pyrenees).
The network offers two levels of services for the guests and citizens of Andorra: free basic internet connection (for getting local news and complete touristic information) and top-notch services with a full internet access (with the usage of all applications, including IM and VoIP). The network will start functioning from January 1, 2015 at the central regions (particularly in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany) with the highest density of visitors.
Andorra Wi-Fi will become a public network on the basis of Cisco Service Provider Wi-Fi platform. Cisco SP Wi-Fi consists of Cisco ASR 1000 (access router), Cisco Wireless LAN Controller and Cisco Mobility Services Engine, that work with context information from Cisco Aironet access point.
Andorra Wi-Fi will also encompass Cisco Connected Mobile Experience (CMX) on ThinkSmart platform that assures bigger opportunities for information processing by the Ministry for tourism of Andorra with the purpose of the information and services optimization and consequently for further development of network over the territory of the Principality.
During the second phase of network enrollment, the networks of Vallnord and Grandvalira ski resorts as well as the hotels and other infrastructure, remote from the capital, will be connected to it.
