Andorra Telecom is a public telecommunications company of the Principality of Andorra.
It is the only company in the country that offers internet, pay-for-view television and fixed and mobile telecommunication services. It is also the company responsible for distributing and broadcasting digital terrestrial television signals, in Andorra and radio, and for administering the Principality’s top-level domain,.ad., which It is owned by the Government of Andorra and operates under a monopoly regime.
History
Telecommunications in Andorra were present long before the creation of Andorra Telecom and its predecessor, the Andorra Telecommunications Service (STA). In 1892, the first telegram was sent, and the first telephones were installed in 1904.
The Andorran Telecommunications Service was created in 1967, the same year that the country’s first automatic telephone switchboard was inaugurated, and its statutes were approved in 1975.
In 1994, the International Telecommunications Union assigned the prefix +376 to Andorra, with the STA in charge of exploitation. In 1995, STA began offering internet and GSM mobile phone services, and, in 2000, it began offering ADSL.
In 2014, the refoundation as Andorra Telecom, SAU was approved.
In December 2016, the NIU business incubator and accelerator, located in the Els Arcs de la Massana building, became operational.
Also in December 2016, Andorra Telecom turned off the landline network, one of the first countries to complete the migration to fiber-to-the-home technology.
In January 2022, it suffered the largest denial of service attack in the history of the Andorran network, which affected internet service throughout the country.

It is also responsible for offering the following public services:
Broadcast of digital terrestrial television signals from the Principality, Andorra Televisió and a selection of international channels from France and Spain.
Broadcasting of radio signals by FM and DAB.
Management of the .ad domain, the national telephone numbering plan, and the +376 prefix.
Emergency network management based on TETRA.
