European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona (MEAM)

The European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) opened its doors in the Ribera district of Barcelona (Catalonia), very close to the Picasso Museum, becoming the first museum of contemporary figurative art in Spain.

It is a private initiative, initiated by the Arts and Artists Foundation.

The collection is basically made up of figurative and realistic works from the 21st century. About 200 paintings and about 40 sculptures by about 150 living artists are exhibited. The collection is divided into three sections:

  • Modern sculpture of the 20th century
  • Collection of Chryselephantine and Art Deco figures
  • Figurative painting
