Creand (formerly Crèdit Andorrà) is a financial group from the Principality of Andorra and with a presence in Spain, Luxembourg, the United States (Miami) and Panama. In 2022, it had a business volume that exceeded €25,000 M.

History

The Crèdit Andorrà bank was founded in 1950 by a group of entrepreneurs in an Andorra that was beginning to walk in the field of commerce and services.

In 1990, the entity expanded its services with the creation of the group’s financial asset management company and in 1996, with the opening of the insurance branch.

In 2005, it acquired and integrated the Andorran subsidiary of CaixaBank. In 2008, the group’s internationalization process began, and in 2011, it bought 85% of Banco Alcalá, a bank focused on global asset management for private and institutional clients, with headquarters in Madrid and offices in Barcelona and Valencia.

In 2021, Crèdit Andorrà acquired 100% of Vall Banc. In 2023, the management company of the Spanish subsidiary completed the merger by absorption of GBS Finanzas Investcapital AV, the securities agency of GBS Finance specialized in advising high net worth and family office clients.

With the implementation of the Creand brand in Andorra from 2023, the Andorran bank changed its name to Creand Crèdit Andorrà; the manager is Creand Asset Management, the insurer Creand Assegurances Estalvi and the foundation is Creand Fundació. The subsidiaries that operate in Spain, the United States and Panama are grouped under the name of Creand Wealth Management. In Luxembourg, the name of the bank is Creand Wealth & Securities.

Services

Internationally, the group offers private banking and wealth management services, based on an open, specialized and flexible architecture model, with personalized advice as a key principle.

In Andorra, Creand Crèdit Andorrà provides a private banking, commercial banking and asset management service. It has incorporated payment with mobile phones, a digitized investment service (Merkaat), and business acceleration programs (Scale Lab Andorra).

Since 2020, it has promoted the Creand Chair in Entrepreneurship and Banking at the IESE Business School, which replaces the Crèdit Andorrà Chair in Markets, Organizations and Humanism, which had been operating since 2006.

Awards and recognitions

Among Andorran banks as a whole, it has been recognized annually and since 2002 by the Financial Times and the Global Banking and Finance Review as Andorra’s best bank, best digital bank, best CSR and best private bank.
