Saint-Lary-Soulan is a commune located in the south-east of the Hautes-Pyrénées department, in the Occitania region (Pyrenees, France).

The commune, in the Pays d’Aure, is made up of the Neste valley (downstream of Sarrancolin), the Aure valley (upstream of Sarrancolin) and the Louron valley.

Exposed to a mountain climate, it is drained by the Neste, the Neste de Rioumajou, and the Saint-Jacques stream.

Included in the Pyrenees National Park, the commune has a remarkable natural heritage: two Natura 2000 sites (Riumajou and Moudang and Néouvielle), a protected area (the Néouvielle national nature reserve) and eleven natural areas of ecological, fauna and flora interest.

Saint-Lary-Soulan is a rural commune that has had 839 inhabitants since 2021.

  • The municipal war memorial is the work of Charles-Henri Pourquet.
  • House of the Pyrenees National Park in an old 16th century residence linked to the siege of Tarbes.
