New law on the rights and duties of doctors and patients in the health system was adopted by the parliament of Andorra on 27th October

The Minister of Health of Andorra Carlos Àlvarez and the Secretary of State of Andorra (Pyrenees), Joan León, reported on the main principles of the new law on the rights and duties of doctors and patients in the health system, which was unanimously adopted by the parliament of Andorra on 27th October.

According to the minister, the law “is an important part of healthcare reform”, as it guarantees maximum patient protection and confidentiality in the treatment process, regulates the right to receive and disseminate information, and pays much attention to the legal component while respecting patients’ rights.

Within the next few weeks, an information campaign will take place in Andorra that provides for the distribution of free brochures with basic information about patients’ rights and medical responsibilities.
