The Minister of Education of Andorra (Pyrenees) Eric Jover participates in the conference “Education: the key to democracy”, which takes place on 22d-23d March in Nicosia (Cyprus).

Representatives of 39 countries take part in the conference. Within the framework of the event, the role of education as an important instrument of social solidarity was repeatedly stressed.

In his speech Eric Jover noted that “education accompanies young people during active development and goes beyond the acquisition of academic knowledge”. The Minister stressed that the education should be based on the protection of democratic values and respect for human rights. He also spoke about consensus of national and supranational structures and closer interaction with the Council of Europe on education.

The Minister also stressed that the reform of education involves changes in the training of school teachers. For this reason, Andorra is ready to cooperate more actively with higher education institutions in order to build new relationships to improve the education system.
