The Center for Historical and Political Studies of Andorra (Pyrenees) will give a lecture on the supposed date of consecration of the Cathedral of Santa Maria d’Urgell (La Seu D’Urgell) on 16th November. The date of the consecration of the cathedral is still one of the historical mysteries.
This is one of the most important documents of the archives of the Alt Urgell region (Pyrenees, Spain, Catalonia), which date is questionable.
The date, specified in the document, is the sixth year of the rule of Lluís el Pietós, 819. Since the eighties of the twentieth century, several historians have tried to change it, without reaching a consensus.
Two historians, Carles Gascón and Oliver Vergés have proposed a date that solves many of the problems associated with the document. This was the result of an exciting investigation, the first one that mentions the six parishes of Andorra.
The lecture will be held on 16th November, in the audience of La Llacuna in Andorra la Vella.
