taxAndorra (Pyrenees) and Latvia start negotiations on concluding an agreement on the exclusion of double taxation. Such a decision has been made this morning after the meeting of Foreign Minister of Andorra Gilbert Saboya with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevic.

According to Gilbert Saboya, “the draft text of the agreement allows us to begin formal negotiations in the near future”. According to his forecasts, they will be completed “in a short period of time”. “This will be an agreement that is very similar to similar documents signed with the rest countries of the European Union,” he added.

The parties agreed to actively participate in the organization of initiatives for the development of tourism relations between two states. Andorra would take part in the tourist fair, which will be held in Riga in February 2018. In addition, next year, coinciding with the first century of Latvia’s independence, it is planned to organize a conference in Andorra with the participation of business representatives of two countries.

Andorra and Latvia also agreed to cooperate in the area of innovation.

The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia is a response to the visit of Gilbert Saboya in September 2015, which marked the beginning of bilateral work in various directions, including the exclusion of Andorra from the list of “tax havens” in 2016.
