Tourism and main attractions

Religious heritage:

  • The Sainte-Marie church succeeds a Benedictine priory probably dating from the 11th century. The parish was under the Benedictines until the Revolution. The priory and the church were severely affected during the Wars of Religion. A stone on the facade bears the date 1691, the year the church was completely rebuilt by the villagers with the help of their lord who affixed his coat of arms on the south face of the bell tower.
  • The Saint-Cérice chapel, called Gleyzette, located above the castle on the cliff.

Civil heritage:

  • The Vogüé castle dominates the village located on the banks of the Ardèche. This castle is located within a large limestone cliff which dominates the Ardèche and on which you can find a chapel. It is a medieval fortified castle redeveloped in the 17th century (it was bought by an individual in order to renovate it following the devastation it suffered during the Revolution). It features historic rooms, a Romanesque chapel, basements with a dungeon, and a hanging garden. It is a private historic monument and while being a place steeped in history, it also hosts temporary exhibitions of visual arts within its walls.

  • The tower of the Roussel house,.
  • The Esparra tower, of which only one wall remains.
  • La Tourasse, in the center of the village, is one of the first Vogüé homes.
  • Place de la Gadabielle.

  • Esplanade sundial, presbytery terrace.
  • Rue des Puces, one of the narrowest streets in France.
  • Rue des Balcons.
  • The Giraud quarries, on the top of the hill overlooking the castle.
