The Council of Ministers of Andorra (Pyrenees) has officially announced today the launch of the first mini hydro power plant in Arcalis. Mini hydroelectric power station at Arcalis was built as a part of a campaign to increase the power generation in the Principality of Andorra from renewable sources to reduce energy dependence on neighboring Spain and France.
This is the first mini hydro power plant in the Principality with a hydraulic capacity of less than 500 kW.
The decision to build a mini hydroelectric power station in Andorra was made by the Government in December 2015.
