Barceló market (Mercado de Barceló), located in Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain, is a reference point for food and gastronomy for local residents and tourists who pass through it. After having undergone a complete renovation, the place where the new building now stands, designed by the Nieto y Sobejano architectural studio, was once the site of what was considered to be the first supermarket in Spain.
It has traditional food stalls and other services, several restaurants, a space for children’s entertainment and, on its roof, it has a restaurant-terrace where you can enjoy healthy cuisine and a garden in the heart of the city, the Azotea Forus Barceló. In addition, the top floors of the market house the Barceló Municipal Sports Centre, a complete 4,000 square metre gym dedicated to sports.
