The Basilica of the Conception of Our Lady is a neo-Gothic Catholic temple located in Madrid, Community of Madrid, Spain. It is located on Calle de Goya, corner with Núñez de Balboa, and was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
History
Built between 1912 and 1914, the architect in charge of the design of the building was initially Eugenio Jiménez Corera, until his death in 1910; the completion of the project corresponded to Jesús Carrasco-Muñoz y Encina. The tower —with a height of 43.70 meters—3 is topped by an iron structure, crowned in turn by an effigy of the Immaculate Conception. Manuel Pariente was in charge of placing the Crown on the image. The inauguration of the building was attended by the then monarchs Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia of Battenberg, in a ceremony that took place on May 11, 1914.
The work has undergone several renovations: in the 1950s, in 1985 and in 2013.
On July 8, 1977, a file was opened for its declaration as a Site of Cultural Interest.
