The second season of “Andorra Sax Festival” festival announced the international contest “Prestige”

The second season of “Andorra Sax Fest” festival announced the international contest “Prestige”.

“Andorra sax Fest” that starts in Andorra la Vella on May 8, 2014 is one of 5 saxophone music global level festivals. In accordance to the words of promoter and coordinator of the project, musician and saxophone tutor Efrem  Rock it is for the first time that, besides 8 concerts,  the program of the festival includes international contest of saxophone players. “We selected the repertoire in accordance to the outstanding skills, that is why the participants of the contest guarantee the highest professional level,”—explained Efrem Rock.

26 saxophone players from Spain, 5 from France, 2 from Poland and by one from Norway, Italy, Brazil, UK, Belgium, Ukraine and Netherlands will take part in the first part of the contest. The jury has to estimate the skills of every other participant by May 10. Five winners will be named in the result of the preliminaries. The finalist of the contest will get the opportunity to perform as the Andorran classic music chamber orchestra soloist in 2015 and will also be awarded with 6000 euro prize. The winners that take second and third places will get 1000 and 700 euro correspondingly. It is notorious that the jury members will give master-classes for the contest participants, students and even for amateurs. The jury will include such eminent musicians as David Vincent, Philipp Brakart, Mariano  Garcia, Nacho Gaston and Christophe Grezer.

The event will take place within the bounds of 44th Theatre season opening in Andorra. The first performance of the season is “Sea, Sax & Fun—Les DeSaxes” (in French). The quartet of saxophone players: Samuel Mango, Michelle Oberli, Gi Rebrain and Frederique Soman will simultaneously perform the roles of clowns, dancers, actors and singers.
