Vladimir (Old Russian: Володимѣрь) is a city in Russia, the administrative center of the Vladimir Oblast (region) and the urban district of the city of Vladimir.

There are two chronicle versions of the founding of the city, in 990 and in 1108. Archaeological research carried out in Vladimir since the first half of the 20th century does not confirm the existence of the city at the end of the 10th century, therefore, in the research of archaeologists, preference is given to 1108. In the XII-XIV centuries – the capital of the Grand Duchy of Vladimir.

One of the largest tourist centers in the European part of Russia. Included in the “Golden Ring of Russia” tourist route.

Located primarily on the left bank of the Klyazma River, 176 km east of Moscow. Transport hub on automobile (Volga and Vostok) and railway (Nizhny Novgorod Transsib) highways.
