Moskva-2024
81-775.2/776.2/777.2 “Moskva-2024” is a model of electric metro cars, developed and manufactured since 2023 by Transmashholding in Russia. It is a restyling modification of the “Moskva-2020” train.
- motor intermediate trailer (MP) – model 81-776.2;
- control car (PG) – model 81-775.2;
- intermediate trailer (PP) – model 81-777.2.
Production has been organized at the facilities of Metrovagonmash by order of the Moscow Metro since 2023. The first deliveries of products were made in 2024.
The new cars are a modification of “Moskva-2020”. They have not undergone significant changes.
The design of the front part of the driver’s cabin, the so-called “mask” of the train, for the “Moskva-2024” was developed by the studio 2050.LAB. The design of the lead motor car “Baltiets” (81-725.1) of the St. Petersburg metro was taken as a basis.
The design of the train mask has become more rectangular, the angle of inclination has increased, which has improved the aerodynamic characteristics. In addition, the changes affected the shape and location of the lighting elements.
The following changes have taken place in the interior: the parts have become more ergonomic and convenient for passengers, as well as for maintenance. Muscovites have chosen a new “eco” style, characterized by brown tones with wooden inserts.
Following key differences:
- the distance in the aisle between the seats has increased by 10%, to 1.15 meters, which has led to an increase in the capacity of the car by 17 people;
- the width of the seats has increased by 5%, to 50 centimeters;
- the seats are now upholstered with a more practical material that prevents contamination;
- USB chargers have been moved to the handrails. It is reported that the plans include increasing the number of connectors, as well as adding Type-C ports;
- new design and location of ceiling screens;
- ramps have been installed in the head cars for people with limited mobility.
- In addition, at the request of the drivers, a directional light has been added to the train cabin.
According to the Official Website of the Mayor of Moscow, “Moskva-2024” is an optimal train in terms of price and quality.
It is planned that in addition to the Zamoskvoretskaya Line (Line 2), the train will also be used on the Troitskaya Line (16).
History
Mentions of the new train model first began to appear in 2023. Thus, in February, Sergei Sobyanin announced plans to create a train with elements of unmanned control by 2026, and to update the Moskva-2020 in 2024. At that time, the talk was about purchasing about 300 new cars, which would have some improvements – a new appearance for the head cars, an updated interior, the installation of more modern charging devices, and increased accessibility of the cars for people with disabilities.
On October 23, 2023, the launch of new trains on the Zamoskvoretskaya Line was announced. These trains were planned to be used to service the new Yuzhnoye depot (Brateevo-2). In November 2023, assembly of new cars began in Moscow.
In November 2023, training of drivers to operate the Moskva-2024 trains began. The training took place in three stages:
- Studying the theoretical part.
- Practicing actions in various situations on the simulator and in a real train at the depot.
- Train control on a line without passengers.
The first car of the 81-775.2 “Moskva 2024” model, number 75337, was completed in December 2023 and entered service with the Moscow Metro on January 7, 2024.
General information
The cars of the “Moskva-2024” model are designed to operate on metro lines with a track gauge of 1520 millimeters. These lines are electrified and have a side contact rail with a voltage of 750 volts DC. Trains based on these cars can be used both on underground and above-ground sections of lines. The maximum speed permitted for these trains is 80 km/h.
Electric trains are formed from two head motor cars with control cabins (81-775.2), several intermediate motor cars (81-776.2) and intermediate trailer cars (81-777.2). The minimum number of cars in a train is two (only head cars), the maximum is eight (two head motor cars, four intermediate motor cars and two intermediate non-motor cars).
The numbering and marking of cars 81-775.2/776.2/777.2 “Moskva-2024” is generally similar to that used for all Russian-made metro cars and is carried out car by car without assigning numbers to trains.
Awards
On May 28, 2024, the “Moskva-2024” train was awarded the silver A’Design Avangard award in the field of industrial design.
