Lucéram is a commune located in the Alpes-Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (France).

The commune of Lucéram is home to the village of Peïra-Cava, north of the village of Lucéram, the first winter sports station in the department, established in 1909. The village of Lucéram has a number of ecclesiastical and medieval monuments, as well as altarpieces by Ludovico Brea.

Tourism and main attractions

The Sainte-Marguerite church: it stands on a terrace overlooking Lucéram. The building, from the end of the 15th century, was overloaded in the 18th century with Italian stucco. It contains very beautiful works of art: five large altarpieces from the school of the Nice master Ludovico Brea, to which stucco frames were added in the 18th century. These altarpieces constitute the most complete set in the County of Nice.

Several chapels exist on the territory of the commune, chapel of Pénitents inside the village, such as the Saint-Pierre chapel or the Saint-Jean chapel, chapels protecting the village or the merchants on the paths which gave access to it, such as the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Cœur chapels and the Saint-Grat chapel.

Some of these chapels have been classified or registered in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments:

  • Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Cœur chapel
  • Saint-Grat chapel
  • Saint-Pierre chapel, or chapel of the Black Penitents

The village was protected by an enclosure of which several elements can still be seen, such as the open round tower at the top of the village.

Moulins de Lucéram.

Each year, the mayor and villagers decorate the village in the theme of Christmas.

The village is covered with pine branches and red and gold ribbons. There are nativity scenes set up on window sills, in cellars or any available nook and cranny.
