BAIE (Barcelona Aeronautics and Space Association)

BAIE (Barcelona Aeronautics and Space Association) is an aeronautics and space cluster in Barcelona, Catalonia. Today BAIE has more than 90 members. It is a member of the European Aviation Clusters Partnership. It is also a platform created in November 2000 as an initiative of the Mayor of Barcelona Joan Clos, which aims to promote the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona and Catalonia as a competitive setting for activities related to the aeronautical industry and space. It has its headquarters in the city of Barcelona, ​​Nexus II Building, on the North Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

The main objectives of the BAIE are:

  • Develop a cluster to increase the activity of the aerospace industry (aeronautics and space) in the sector in the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona and Catalonia.
  • Attract investment from the region’s aerospace industries.
  • Establish strategic relationships, cooperation and R&D agreements within the aeronautical community and space, especially due to the proximity to the Toulouse area (Airbus headquarters)
