After more than half a century as a hall for film premieres, it was converted in 2004 into a space for the performing arts, under the name Teatro Compac Gran Vía de Madrid. In 2017 it already appeared under the name Teatro de la Luz Philips Gran Vía. As of November 16, 2019 and for sponsorship reasons, it is called Teatro edp Gran Vía.
