Tourism

  • The 19th-century Salies-de-Béarn thermal baths has unique architecture.
  • The old town center is interesting for its construction centered on Place du Bayaà, where the salt fountain once stood. The old streets feature numerous half-timbered houses and projecting walls. A fountain commemorating the town’s millennium was built in 1927. The remains of the Château de Saint-Pé can be found on Rue Larroumette.

  • Rue des Docteurs-Foix features beautiful mansions, including the Pavillon Louis XV, the former private mansion of the Coustalé de Larroque family.
  • The Salies-de-Béarn Casino and convention center dates from 1930. The Grand Hôtel du Parc was built in 1891, as was the Hôtel Bellevue. These three buildings are listed as historical monuments, as is the bandstand, located in the public garden.

  • The Salt Museum traces more than 4,000 years of history. The ground floor is dedicated to the first salt mines from the Bronze Age and the Gallo-Roman period to the Middle Ages; the first floor is devoted to the heyday of spa therapy; and the top floor focuses on geology and archaeological excavations.

  • The Bayaà crypt, where the spring flows.
  • The saltworks and its museum space.
  • Coulomme Castle, overlooking the town and formerly owned by the lord of Coulomme-Labarthe.
