Sainte-Scholastique monastery (Pyrénées Atlantiques)

The Monastery of Saint Scholastica (Monastère Sainte-Scholastique) is a Benedictine convent located in the French commune of Urt (Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Nouvelle Aquitaine), part of the Subiaco congregation.

History

The monastery was founded in May 1883 in an 18th-century manor house. The Monastery of Saint Scholastica later opened a candle factory and acquired a church in 1941. In 1960, two new buildings were completed around the cloister.

The Abbey of Notre-Dame de Belloc, also following the Rule of Saint Benedict, is also located in Urt.
