ММВЗ М-1М

The M-1M is a lightweight single-seat road motorcycle created by the Minsk Motorcycle and Bicycle Plant (MMVZ) and manufactured between 1956 and 1961. It is a modernized version of the Moskva M-1A motorcycle, manufactured at the Moscow Motorcycle Plant (MMZ). Since 1951, production moved to the Minsk plant, and this model continued the development line of the M-1A, which was a copy of the German DKW RT 125.

The M1M, like the M1A, was a single-seat motorcycle. Above its rear fender was a luggage rack, which was often used to install homemade seats. However, it was difficult to transport two adults, since it was designed for a maximum weight of up to 150 kg.

Production of the M1M ended in 1961. It was replaced by the M103, and then by the M104.

Description

The motorcycle engine is single-cylinder, air-cooled and has a two-channel return purge. It is equipped with a cast-iron cylinder and an aluminum alloy head. The engine runs on a mixture of oil and gasoline A-66.

The main difference of the M1M was not the engine upgrade, but the new wheel suspensions, which significantly improved driving comfort. Instead of a telescopic front suspension, a short-lever pusher fork with spring shock absorbers was installed.

The motorcycle frame is tubular, closed type. The front fork is a lever pusher type with friction shock absorbers, and the rear suspension is a pendulum type, also with friction shock absorbers.
