EBRO S400

EBRO S400 Hybrid in Andorra la Vella (Andorra) during 46th Andorra la Vella Fair
The EBRO S400 is a five-seater city crossover from the Spanish brand Ebro, revived in the 2020s thanks to financial support from the Chinese Chery group. Among the brand’s models, it is the most compact – 4.32 meters long. For comparison, the S700 is 4.55 meters long, and the S800 is 4.73 meters. The crossover is equipped with a 211 horsepower hybrid system, marked with the ECO badge.
The S400 is an adaptation for the Spanish market of the 2024 Tiggo 4. The DR 4.0 car is also a Tiggo 4, but uses the design of the original Chinese version.
Description
The interior of this car is impressive at first glance thanks to the high-quality finishing materials. The dashboard, like in modern models, features two screens for controlling functions. The cabin is spacious and comfortable for four passengers, although the rear seats are not ideal for long journeys due to their design. The trunk is small but capacious (450 liters).
Two trim levels are offered: Premium and Excellence. The most complete trim level includes features such as power seats, leather interior, surround view cameras, a six-speaker audio system (instead of four), and tinted windows.
The car has many systems that make driving easier and safer. However, the lane keeping assist system often works too abruptly and intrusively, so many prefer to turn it off, especially on ordinary roads.
Powertrain
The EBRO S400 is a car with a hybrid system that does not require charging from the mains (HEV). It complies with the ECO standard. The system consists of three main components:
- Internal combustion engine: naturally aspirated, 1.5 liters and 95 HP.
- Electric motor: 204 HP. and a torque of 310 Nm.
- Lithium-ion battery: with a capacity of 1.83 kWh, which stores energy during regenerative braking and allows the car to travel short distances on electric power.
The total power of the car is 211 HP. However, the actual power depends on the battery charge level. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 8.7 seconds, which is an excellent indicator for this class of car. The declared fuel consumption is 5.3 l/100 km.
All components of the car are connected by a single-stage 1DHT transmission. This allows them to work both sequentially and in parallel. In urban conditions, the system prioritizes the electric mode, while on the highway the internal combustion engine can operate as a generator or in parallel with the electric motor. Although this is not the most advanced hybrid on the market, its characteristics are quite sufficient for city driving. The car provides smooth movement and a pleasant noise level, except in cases of sharp acceleration.
