Bléone river

The Bléone is a river in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (France). It’s a left tributary of the Durance river, therefore a sub-tributary of the Rhône river.

The Bléone is 69.5 km long and drains a basin of 906 km2. Its source is located in the commune of Prads-Haute-Bléone, at an altitude of 2,426 m at the foot of the peak of Estrop (2,961 m) and Trois-Évêchés (2,819 m).

The Bléone crosses in particular the town of Digne-les-Bains, prefecture of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, as well as the municipalities of Prads-Haute-Bléone, La Javie, Mallemoisson and Malijai.

The Bléone passes under the EDF Durance factory canal less than a kilometer from its confluence in the town of Escale.

The Bléone confluences between the two communes of Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban and Les Mées, at an altitude of 408 m, just 100 m south-east of the Château-Arnoux-Saint-Auban Aerodrome.
