СВаРЗ-МАЗ-6275
SVARZ-MAZ-6275 is a Russian low-floor large-class trolleybus based on the MAZ-203 bus. It was developed in 2012 at the Sokolniki Carriage Repair Plant (SVARZ) in Moscow.
The first trolleybus of this model was presented on October 2, 2012, at the ExpoCityTrans-2012 exhibition.
Description
The trolleybus was created on the basis of the MAZ-203T vehicle kit of the Minsk Automobile Plant. It differs from the original model by the presence of an asynchronous traction drive PTAD-202M-180, manufactured by the Chergos company. This trolleybus can also travel autonomously for a distance of up to 2,000 meters at a speed of 20-30 km/h.
Trolleybuses manufactured in 2016–2017 are equipped with electrical equipment from the EPRO company. In the rear part of the cabin there are four additional seats, as in the regular MAZ-203T. In addition, the trolleybus is equipped with pneumatic boom catchers and air conditioners for the driver’s cabin and passenger compartment.
Operation
In December 2012, a new trolleybus with the side number 8882 was delivered to the 8th Moscow trolleybus depot. It was produced by the SVARZ plant and had the serial number 100. According to the serial number plate, the trolleybus model is designated as SVARZ-6235.00.
Another copy of the SVARZ-MAZ-6275 trolleybus was presented at the Electrotrans 2013 exhibition, which was held from May 22 to 24, 2013. At the end of May of the same year, this trolleybus also arrived to the 8th trolleybus depot.
In 2013, 16 SVARZ-MAZ-6275 trolleybuses were purchased in Krasnodar. They were evenly distributed between the city’s trolleybus depots.
On May 2, 2015, a trolleybus with the side number 193 burned down on the territory of the first depot. After that, it was scrapped.
Since May 2016, 14 SVARZ-MAZ-6275 trolleybuses have been delivered to Crimea. However, on August 28, 2016, one of them, with the side number 21, caught fire while working on route No. 4 and was subsequently scrapped.
From December 2016 to June 2017, a batch of 24 SVARZ-MAZ-6275 trolleybuses was delivered to the 8th Moscow trolleybus depot. The last trips on these trolleybuses were made on August 24, 2020. After that, they were among the last to be decommissioned in Moscow, as trolleybus service in the city ceased. Then these trolleybuses were sent to Saratov and Ulyanovsk.
On September 4, 2020, four trolleybuses of the SVARZ-MAZ-6275 model went on the museum route T (Komsomolskaya Square – Yelokhovskaya Square).
On April 1, 2022, the route was temporarily closed due to the reconstruction and improvement of the streets near the future Moscow Transport Museum.
After all the work was completed, the route was relaunched on November 11, 2023.
