Renault R4 E-Tech Electric in Andorra la Vella (Andorra) during 46th Andorra la Vella Fair

The Renault 4 E-Tech is a subcompact electric crossover from the French Renault, scheduled to hit the market in 2025. It is built on the AmpR Small platform, like its “relative,” the Renault 5 E-Tech. The model name harks back to the legendary Renault 4 hatchback, produced from 1961 to 1994.

History

In 2021, Renault announced the 4ever project as part of its plan to release new electric vehicles by 2025. The project name was 4Ever, and its result was the 4Ever Trophy concept car, which was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2022.

The 4 E-Tech, like the Renault 5 E-Tech, is built on the shared AmpR Small platform, which uses half of the components from the existing CMF-B platform. This allows for a reduction in production costs to two-thirds of the cost of a B-segment electric vehicle like the Renault Zoe.

The 4 E-Tech is expected to be more expensive than the 5 E-Tech. Their relationship will be similar to the relationship between the Clio and Captur, which are also built on the CMF-B platform.

A commercial van version is planned, which will retain the front end and front compartment of the 4 E-Tech, but will have an enlarged cargo area, similar to the relationship between the R4 Fourgonnette and the original Renault 4.
