The Gloria (日産・グロリア) is a luxury car produced by Prince Motor Company since 1959, and then under the Nissan brand after its merger with Nissan Motors. Initially sold as the Prince Gloria, the car later became known as the Nissan Gloria. Based on the more compact Prince Skyline, the Gloria series was merged with the Nissan Cedric in 1971. Both models were produced until 2004, when they were replaced by the Nissan Fuga.

After the acquisition of Prince Motor Company, the Nissan Gloria was sold alongside the Nissan Skyline through the Nissan Prince Shop dealership network, previously owned by Prince. The Prince G engine was used in the Gloria until 1969. The car’s name comes from the Latin word for “glory” (gloria).

IX Generation (Y32)

A new generation of the model was released in June 1991. It was offered only as a sedan. To improve strength and collision safety, a central B-pillar was added, concealed behind the side windows and frameless windows.

The VG-series engine continued to be paired with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, while the RD28 diesel version had a 4-speed. A manual transmission was no longer offered.

Trim levels included the Gran Turismo SV, Grand Turismo, and the top-of-the-line Gran Turismo ULTIMA. Brougham VIP type C, Brougham G, Brougham, Classic SV, and Classic were also available.

The popularity of the Nissan Cima impacted sales of the Gloria, which were lower than previous generations.
