Октябрьская революция (Проект 26-37)

Volga Drim (code: В-05-1000) in Moscow
Oktyabrskaya revolyutsiya is a type of three-deck river motor ship that was built at the Národný Podnik Škoda Komárno shipyard, known as Slovenské Lodenice n.p. Komárno, in Komárno, Czechoslovakia between 1957 and 1962. These ships are also known as Project 26-37 or MOL 1575 (from the Slovak words motorova osobna lod, meaning “passenger motor ship with a 1,575 horsepower engine”).
Project 26-37 was almost identical to Project 588 Rodina, which was built in the German Democratic Republic (GDR).
History
River passenger ships of this project were produced from 1957 to 1962 according to the Czechoslovak project, which was approved by the USSR Ministry of River Fleet on October 6, 1955.
The first ship, Oktyabrskaya revolyutsiya, was built at the shipyard in Komarno, Czechoslovakia, in 1957. A total of 14 ships of this project were built. The maximum annual output was four ships.
The ships were sent to the Volga and Moscow River Shipping Companies. Valery Chkalov was transferred to the Volga River Shipping Company for work on the Moscow-Astrakhan and Gorky-Astrakhan passenger lines, as well as for river cruises.
During operation, there was a need to modernize the ships. Project 92-055 is a reconstruction and modernization carried out in the 1980s. However, due to the collapse of the socialist camp and financial problems after the collapse of the USSR, it was possible to implement this project on only one vessel.
Project 26-37/311 means the reconstruction and modernization of the vessel, carried out in the 1990s and especially in the 2000s.
Technical equipment
The vessels differ depending on the modification: they may have slight differences in size, they are equipped with different types of engines and have features related to their purpose.
Over time, the vessels were modernized, rebuilt and re-equipped to meet modern requirements. At the same time, the number of passenger seats was reduced, since the main attention was paid to the comfort and coziness of passengers.
The vessels are driven by three four-stroke main diesel engines 6L275B or 6L275PN. Ships of project 92-055 are equipped with exactly these engines.
Since 1961, ships have been built with a wider superstructure to accommodate modified cabins on the boat deck. During operation, all ships were equipped with cinemas in the aft part of the upper deck.
On board
During construction, cabins for one, two and four people were created on the ship. All of them were equipped with washbasins. The luxury cabins were supplemented with individual bathrooms.
Passengers can use two restaurants and two salons.
According to the project, the ship was to have two restaurants: one with 63 soft seats, and the other with 50 hard ones. Two music salons were also planned – for 18 and 30 seats, and a reading salon for 25 seats. The crew was provided with 70 seats.
