The BMW X2 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV that BMW has been producing since 2017. This car is positioned as a sport activity coupé (SAC).

II generation (U10)

Compared to its predecessor, this car has a sloping roofline, like the X6.

Its exterior is adorned with a hexagonal BMW kidney grille, which can be equipped with BMW Iconic Glow lighting. This is the first compact BMW available with 21-inch alloy wheels.

Body

The X2 and iX2 are built on a new platform called FAAR. It combines several types of engines and is used in the third generation of the Mini Countryman and the BMW X1.

According to BMW’s classification, this model has a more prominent roofline, reminiscent of a coupe. This reduces the drag coefficient by 0.01 (to 0.26) compared to the X1.

The length of the car has increased by 19 cm and is now 4.55 m. This is 5 cm more than the X1. The model has also become about 2 cm wider and has a longer wheelbase.

The boot capacity is 525 litres for the electric model and 560 litres for versions with combustion engines.

Interior

The interior is equipped with a curved BMW Curved Display. It houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. They are controlled by the BMW OS9 operating system. The system is equipped with the QuickSelect function, which simplifies access to various applications. The car also has a gear selector for the automatic transmission.

Engine

At the time of market launch, four versions of the car were presented: two with petrol engines, one with a diesel engine and one with an electric one.

The sDrive20i is a front-wheel drive petrol model with a 125 kW (170 HP) engine and 240 Nm of torque.

The M35i xDrive is a petrol all-wheel drive version that can produce up to 221 kW (300 HP) and 400 Nm of torque.

The sDrive 18d is a front-wheel drive diesel version. It has 110 kW (150 HP) and 360 Nm of torque.

The iX2 is a fully electric version with electric motors on each axle. It can produce 230 kW (313 HP). There is also a front-wheel drive version with 150 kW (204 HP). The range is up to 478 km. The model is equipped with a 64.7 kWh battery, which can be charged with a maximum power of 130 kW using direct current. In the case of charging from alternating current, two power options are available: 11 kW and 22 kW.

Chassis

The chassis of the car is built on the same principle as its predecessor, but the front axle has been completely redesigned. The braking process occurs on both the front and rear wheels using single-piston calipers with floating discs.

As an additional option, the M-Sport braking system is offered, which includes four-piston fixed disc brake calipers on the front axle. This system is standard for the X2 M35i, but if necessary, it can be improved by installing a more efficient M-Compound braking system.

The Driving Assistant Professional X2 driver assistance system allows the car to reach speeds of up to 210 km/h. Additionally, the system can be equipped with a high beam system without the dazzle effect.
