The Mini Countryman, known in Japan until 2024 as the Mini Crossover, is a subcompact crossover SUV and the first vehicle in its class to be released by BMW under the Mini brand.

The first generation was first introduced in 2010 and received a facelift in 2014. The second generation Countryman was introduced in 2017 and also received a facelift in 2020. The third generation of this model was introduced in 2023.

III generation (U25)

The third-generation Countryman was officially unveiled on September 1, 2023. This vehicle is equipped with both battery-electric and traditional internal combustion engines.

Buyers can choose from four trim levels: Essential, Classic, Favoured, and JCW. Production began in November 2023 for the traditional internal combustion engine versions, while the electric Countryman was released later.

The John Cooper Works Countryman is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and the ALL4 all-wheel drive system.

Overview

The Countryman features LED headlights that can be operated in three different modes. The C-pillar has a distinctive shape that can be changed depending on the vehicle’s trim level. The taillights also feature the signature Union Jack graphic.

The designers decided to forego the use of chrome trim elements in order to minimise the negative impact on the environment. The Countryman is built on the UKL2 platform, which is also used in the BMW X1.

The interior is simplified and has fewer buttons. The only display in the cabin is a 9.4-inch (24 cm) OLED touchscreen located in the centre. It is controlled by the MINI OS 9 operating system and can be used either via the standard interface or via the MINI Intelligent Personal Assistant. The screen supports eight customisable operating modes.

For the first time, textile surfaces with a two-tone design are used in the cabin.

The Countryman is the first car to feature Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, which enable semi-autonomous driving at speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour.
