Yermolova Theater

The Moscow Drama Theater, named after Maria Nikolaevna Yermolova (Yermolova Theater Center), is a drama theater in Moscow, formed in 1925. Since 1946, it has been in the building of the former passage of the Postnikovs. The theater’s repertoire is represented by performances based on works of world classics and performances of experimental genres.

The building

In 1830, one of the largest mansions was built on Tverskaya Street – Postnikovsky Passage (Moscow). In 1897, the two-story building with a mezzanine was rebuilt: the first floor was given to a shopping arcade, and the second floor to a hotel. From 1931 to 1938, the Vsevolod Meyerhold State Theater was in the building. In 1946, the Yermolova Theater occupied the premises.
