Bastien Montes, the winner of the competition-2017

81 athletes participate in the World Cup

So far only 3 athletes (men) exceeded the speed of 180 km / h: Italian Simone Origone, Austrian Manuel Kramer and Swiss veteran Philippe May.

As for women, the maximum speed was set by Italian Valentina Greggio, who arrives at Grandvalira as the undisputed champion (176 km / h)

The athletes say that this year it will be difficult to break the record of Philippe May (199.56 km/h) because of the quality of the snow.

On Friday a ten-meter tower with a new slide surface will be used to help to exceed 200 km / h.

As usual, the competitions of this season take place on the track Riberal, Grandvalira sector – Grau Roig. This track is the only one in the southern part of Europe made for this type of competitions. Its total length – 900 meters, the braking zone – 450 m, vertical drop – 200 m (plus an additional 10 meters of a special descent tower). The maximum gradient of 74%.
