The ministry of public administration, transport and telecommunications of Andorra (Pyrenees) took the initiative of creation of government department of air navigation service.
Relevance of creation of such body arose after all necessary actions for preparation of La Seu D’Urgell airport in Spain, Catalonia, at the border with Andorra, for reception and sending regular passenger flights were complete.
The service will take responsibility for management of air space and to carry out registration of aircrafts. Andorra is the member of the organization of the International civil aviation – the specialized institution of the UN establishing the international standards of civil aviation and coordinating its development for the purpose of increase of safety and efficiency.
In parallel the question of construction of a heliport in the territory of Andorra and lobbying of idea of a helicopter taxi is under discussion. The main idea is to create a direct heli-line with the La Seu airport. It will help to avoid traffic jams both on entrance, and on departure auto route from Andorra. The cost of a heliport can make about 2 mln euros.
Construction of own airport in Andorra isn’t discussed yet. However the experts say the cost of the airport in La Rabassa can make minimum 90 mln euros.
