The Minister of environment and agriculture of Andorra Sílvia Calvó and the director of marketing and communications of Morabanc Mireia Maestre presented the recipe book, which includes 12 dishes from one of the best chefs in Andorra. The book includes only the recipes containing the dishes of lentils, beans and peas.

Sílvia Calvó recalled that the United Nations declared 2016 as the international year of legumes in order to highlight the importance of these foods as they are rich in nutrients and have great health benefits. In addition, these products can contribute to the fight against hunger at the global level, as they are a source of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals, including iron.

In addition, legumes can contribute to develop agriculture, because they improve the quality of the soil on which the grow.

The Minister noted that the legumes were also a source of protein, however, they required less water for its production. In particular, every kilogram of beef requires 13,000 liters of water, and 1 kg of beans – just 50 litres.

Sílvia Calvó said the legumes were not popular food for most people. To change the situation in Andorra, it was decided to make the delicious recipes of these products available to the public.

The government of Andorra and Morabanc printed about thousands of booklets which will be distributed at exhibitions, devoted to tasty and healthy food. All recipes will also be posted on the Internet.
