The lowest temperature was recorded in Catalonia (-34.1ºC)

The lowest temperature was recorded in Catalonia, Spain, Pyrenees (-34.1ºC) this Wednesday. The previous record for the lowest temperature occurred at Estany Gento in 1956 (-32ºC) .

The Catalan Pyrenees recorded this Wednesday the lowest temperature ever recorded in Catalonia and on the entire southern slope of the Pyrenees. The Clot de la Llança observatory, in the municipality of Alt Àneu, has marked a figure of -34.1ºC around 7 a.m.

This weather station belongs to the Baqueira-Beret ski resort.

It was the coldest wave of recent years not only in the Pyrenees but throughout Catalonia.

This Wednesday, in La Seu d’Urgell, some observatories have marked – 11ºC. As for the high mountains, the observatories of the port of La Bonaigua (-12.5ºC), the peak of Salòria, La Tosa d’Alp, Boí Taüll and Espot (-11ºC all cases) were mentioned.

The frosts have covered practically all of Catalonia, with the sole exception of some areas of the coast of Barcelona and Tarragona.

On Costa Brava coast it was recorded -4ºC.
