On Friday, the head of the Government of Andorra, Antoni Martí Petit, signed the agreement with the heads of Andorra la Vella and La Massana parroquies Rosa Ferrer and David Barrot on the launch of cable way construction project, that will connect on the first stage, the capital of Andorra with Carroi peak (first construction phase) and later on with Vallnord ski resort (sector Pal).
Currently, the capital of Andorra has no direct connection to the ski slopes. The nearest lift to the capital is La Massana (10 minutes drive).
The project will favor further development of the touristic industry in the Principality. It is expected that the cable way construction will be fully financed by private companies. The parties emphasized that public participation in this project is highly welcome.
On Monday, June 30 the meeting of Andorran Government on the related is issue will take place. It is planned to discuss there the competition procedures and conditions for the participation in this project, including land tenure rights.
It is known that the interest in the project shows the group of companies Doppelmayr, which firmly holds the leading position in cable way quality and construction technologies. The group of companies has got maintenance service subdivisions in more than 30 countries. Doppelmayr sold approx. 15 thousand of ropeway systems for the customers from more than 80 countries.
As for ecological issues, the agreement presupposes that the project shall be of minimal environmental impact.
