The Ferran Castle - a Gothic and Renaissance building

The Ferran Castle (cat. Castell de Ferran) – a castle in the municipality of Tarragona (Catalonia, Spain), in the Ferran area, between Tamarit castle and Altafulla. It dates back to the 11th century, when it was just a watchtower.

During the 14th century, it was ruled by the Church of Tarragona and at the end of the 17th century passed into the hands of the Marquis of Tamarita Francesca de Montserrat i Vives.

Today the castle is a Gothic and Renaissance building, very modernized in our time, but with a historical and romantic heritage. It is formed by various fortified buildings, between which a cogged side tower with an angular watch tower stands out. There are several windows in the Gothic tradition, the coat of arms of the Marquis of Tamarit, the owners of this place since the 17th century, has been preserved.

Currently, the castle is a private residential building, and it is forbidden to visit its interior.
