The Church of Mikhail and Fedor of Chernigov

The Church of Mikhail and Fedor of Chernigov (Temple of the Chernigov Wonderworkers) is an Orthodox church in the Zamoskvorechye district of Moscow, known since 1625, consecrated in honor of the martyrs’ Prince Mikhail Vsevolodovich and his boyar Fyodor.

In Soviet times, the temple was used for storage and residential premises. In 1977, the building was reconstructed, and by 1991 it was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church. Since 2010, the Church Postgraduate School has occupied the church, named after Saints Cyril and Methodius.

The church had forms typical of the 17th century. It consisted of a small quadrangle and a refectory, to which a hipped bell tower adjoined from the west. The temple was made in the style of Russian patterns.

In 1740, they reconstructed the temple and the nearby Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist. Their facades were supplemented with baroque elements.
