Mogul is a North American term for steam locomotives with the wheel arrangement 2-6-0 according to the Whyte notation, which corresponds to the German type designation 1’C. Mughal locomotives have a pusher axle and three coupled axles. Originally mainly used for freight locomotives, later passenger and multi-purpose locomotives and a few express train locomotives were also built in this design.
