The Council of Ministers of Andorra approved on Wednesday the proposal of the Minister of the environment and agriculture Sílvia Calvó on the grant to the Association of farmers and herdsmen of the Principality (l Associació de Pagesos i Ramaders del Principat d’andorra (APRA) for a study on the possibility of cultivation of blueberry in the Principality.
This step is a part of the policy of the Government to promote the diversification of agriculture of Andorra and to ensure their own production of food of high quality.
APRA will coordinate the work of the research centre, which will include both local and international experts. The first phase of the plan will determine the best land plots, which have the best characteristics to test the first planting which is planned for autumn this year.
