The 17th edition of the Medieval town takes place this Sunday in San Julia de Loria, Andorra (Pyrenees)

Schedule

10h –13h IX Meeting of Lace makers in the Cultural and Congress Centre. Tour of Sant Julià leaving from the Tourist Office in the Plaça Laurèdia. Guided visit to some of the most emblematic locations of the parish including the Tobacco Museum.

10h – 14h Open Door Days at the Tobacco Museum and the temporary photographic exhibition Robert Capa. Retrospective including not only war photos from the Spanish Civil War, Vietnam and World War II but also portraits of Hemingway, Faulkner, Steinbeck, Picasso and others (last visit at 13h).

11h Medieval Market opens. Musical Parade by the group La Torna leaving from the South Entrance of Av. Verge de Canòlich. Storytelling: Born to read: We’re going to hunt an orc in The Casa Comuna Fireplace Room led by Olga Cercós (for 0 to 3 years old. Pre-booking required: Tel. 744 044 or [email protected] )

An adaptation of a classic of children’s literature explained through play and song. We will arrive at a cave after crossing a river of mud, overcoming a snowstorm … and once we find the cave … will there be an orc there? Itinerant show of Crazy Knights by Fèlix Brunet and company. Starting at the Plaça de la Germandat. Two crazy horsemen ride cross town on their horses. What will happen when they are found? Planting the Giants in the Plaça Calonge-Sant Antoni.

11h – 13:30h. Art workshops (30 minute shifts) in the Plaça de la Germandat. Workshop with paper and painting (5+) given by the Art School.

11h – 14h Children’s Mythological Carousel (2€) and Dragon Swing (2€) in the Plaça Major. Recycling-art Workshop by La Moixera (5+) in the Plaça Major. Give new life to waste materials, creating all kinds of medieval objects. Sonàrium (sound centre) by the Cia. El Pájaro carpintero (0 – 4 years) in the Placeta de Casa Comuna. Sound is the protagonist of this space of play, discovery and musical experimentation. While playing with music and instruments, the little ones get closer to the language of music. Medievalia: Giant games in the Plaça de la Germandat. Creative carpentry space in the Parking Reig Patrimonia. Led by the CIA. El Pájaro carpintero (5+). 11.15h Stories for children by the storyteller Ala Tocada in the Pati casa Coto. Street theatre that drinks from the tradition of street jugglers. 12h Itinerant show with a Medieval ambience starting from the Plaça de la Germandat organised by the Excalibur company. Two soldiers carry a yoked prisoner, there are also peddlers, a blind boxer, a girl with a chastity belt, a witch, comedians who juggle … a series of characters who will walk through the Villa interacting with pedestrians. Puppets: The Devil’s Well by the company Sebastià Vergés in the Pati casa Coto. Parade of Giants starting from the Plaça Calonge-Sant Antoni run by the Colla de Geganters of Sant Julià de Lòria, accompanied by the participants of the workshop: capgrossos (big heads) and enlivened by the group La Torna.

12:30h A Music and Dance show: Terra (Land) in the Plaça de la Germandat. Organised by Esbart Laurèdia (dance) and El Pont de Arcalís (music). TERRA is a nation and a country – Andorra. Through dance, music and songs that identify us as a people, we will show the birth and evolution to the present day of one of the oldest parliaments in Europe (This year is its 600th anniversary).

13h Family show: The White Lady or the disadvantages of being a famous ghost! in the Plaça de l’Església directed by Elena Santiago. Being a ghost has its disadvantages: extreme pallor, having to appear almost every time someone uses a ouija, board, never able to sleep … And to be a famous one is even worse! Auvinya’s White Lady cannot find the eternal rest that she craves so much because, after ten centuries, her legend still lives on in the world of humans.
