Taksim Mosque (Taksim Camii) is a mosque located in Taksim Square in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, designed by architects ŞefikBirkiye and Selim Dalaman. The construction of the mosque started on February 9, 2017. It was opened for worship on Friday, May 28, 2021, with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the Friday prayer. Before the ceremony, rose water was sprayed in Taksim Square.

Building a mosque in Taksim Square was first conceived in 1968. The area where the project took place has been designated as a mosque in the zoning plan since 1977. However, the construction was not able to start until the the Council of State approved the decision in 1983.

Many project plans were made regarding the construction of this mosque.Ultimately, the mosque project designed by Şefik Birkiye and Selim Dalaman was submitted to the approval of the Istanbul Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage No. 2.

The mosque is located right behind Taksim Maksemi, built by Mahmud I in 1731. The closest place of worship to this mosque, located where Istiklal Street opens to Taksim Square, is the Hagia Triada Greek Orthodox Church.

The mosque project, which was paid for and built by Sur Yapı, is located on a plot of 2,482 square meters. In the building, which has a parking lot capacity for 163 vehicles and an area of 2,950 square meters, is reserved for prayers. The mosque was intended to have 3 floors. The total prayer capacity holds 4,000 people, 3,000 of which can fit inside the mosque. In the section reserved for women, 620 women can pray at the same time. There is a lounge, exhibition hall, library, and soup kitchen on the basement and ground floors.

The building height above ground is 20.70 meters, the dome height of the mosque is 9.6 meters, and the total ridge height is 30.3 meters. These measurements were apparently designed by taking into account the heights of the Hagia Triada Greek Orthodox Church and the Surp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Catholic Church.
