Skimo6 and Skimo10 mountain skiing competitions will take place in Andorra this weekend

The Skimo, an Andorran mountain race, will this year have two stages: the Skimo 6 and the new, Skimo 10. With this extension, the race started in 2016 is close to its great objective: to make a complete winter circuit of Andorra (Pyrenees) on mountain skis.

The Skimo 6 will continue to follow the route of previous years, with the start at Naturlandia (San Julia de Loria) and ending at Grau Roig, going through six high mountain refuges, passing such emblematic points as the Estany de la Nou, the Illa and the Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Skimo 10, for its part, with the same starting point, will extend the route with a second stage that will leave from Grau Roig to go to Ordino-Arcalís. The Skimo of Andorra hopes to recover the spirit of mountain races and at the same time become a reference for all the mountaineers who practice this discipline, both professionals and amateurs. In order to respect this philosophy, participants in Skimo 6 & 10 can only take part as a ‘team’: in pairs or three people.

The race gives points towards the Andorra Mountain Skiing Cup.
