Prevention will be a key priority of the National plan of Andorra for waste control in 2017-2020. This decision was taken at the meeting of the Commission for coordination and development of the National plan for waste control.
The meeting was attended by the minister of environment and agriculture of Andorra Sílvia Calvó, who made the initiative.
The proposed revision, which was submitted to the representatives of the municipalities, officials of the organizations responsible for waste management, members of associations for the protection of the environment, provides for the prevention, means the base reduction of waste volume. This, in particular, will follow of the example of the European Union, which has been pursuing a similar policy since 2015.
The decrease in volumes of waste will also affect subsequent reuse of waste, recycling, energy recovery and actually elimination of them.
