Port Aine ski resort in Catalonia

SKI Pallars union

Port Aine (cat. Port Ainé) is a ski station which opened in 1986, located in the territory subordinate to the municipality of Rialp (cat. Rialp) in the Orri massif (cat. Massís de l’Orri), among the pristine landscapes of the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees (cat. Parc Natural de l’Alt Pirineu) in the comarca of Pallars Sobira (cat. Pallars Sobirà), which is in the Pyrenees of Lleida(cat. Pirineu de Lleida). It is the part of the Gran Pallars ski union, consisting from Port Ainé, Espot and Tavascan.

This ski base is very well located as it is found at Orri Peak (altitude 2440 m), with 95% of its slopes oriented to the north. This provides a microclimate that fits perfectly with light snowfalls; snow lasts here from December to April. Many believe that the best snow in the Pyrenees is on this base.

The station has 30 km of slopes with a height difference of 800 meters, which is suitable for any level of skier or snowboarder. All the slopes are located within the Natural Park of the High Pyrenees, they are laid on natural mountain slopes and offer breath-taking views of the entire panorama of the Pyrenees mountains.

A distinctive feature of the Port Aine station is its clear focus on family sports and on those skiers and snowboarders that are just beginning to master these sports. The chairlift with a slow 6-seater JET – CIM reaches the maximum height of the resort. Orry peak provides skiers the opportunity to use the green Beljavista track (cat. Bellavista), as well as many others. It is a simple 3-km route around the entire base which is designed for any level of skier and invites you to pass by all the best zones of the base and to check out the picturesque landscapes.

Connoisseurs appreciate Port Aine for its snow park (cat. Snowpark) – one of the first freestyle tracks to appear in the Pyrenees and which has kept up with all the most advanced freestyle trends to this day. It has its own lift, various profiles and lines for beginners, advanced and professional athletes.

As for services, Port Aine is fully equipped with everything that you may need to spend a great ski day at an altitude of 2000 meters where the Hotel Port Aine 2000 *** is located (cat. Hotel Port Ainé 2000), the highest hotel in all of the Pyrenees. In addition, skiers and campers have a shop with essential goods, an equipment rental centre, a ski school, a solarium terrace with a cafe, a snow entertainment centre and a restaurant with panoramic views at their disposal.

In short, in Port Aine, skiers of any level will have a good time.
