DON CARLOS: Thursday, 19th October at 17.45 at the Cinemes Illia Carlemany, Escaldes-Engordany. Opera Direct from Opéra National de Paris: Directed by KRZYSZTOF WARLIKOWAKI. Starring: JONAS KAUFMAN as Don Carlos, ILDAR ABDRAZAKOV as Philippe II, SONYA YONCHEVA as Elizabeth, LUDOVIC TÉZIER as Rodrigue and ELINA GARANCA as Eboli. THE PRODUCTION. This is the original version of Verdi’s DON CARLOS written in French in five acts in 1867. THE STORY. Don Carlos, the Infante of Spain, witnesses his beloved Elisabeth, princess of France, stolen from him by his father, Philippe II of Spain. The desolate Carlos goes to support the rebellion in Flanders. Meanwhile the Spanish Inquisition holds Spain in terror. Eboli, the King’s mistress, becomes jealous after Don Carlos spurns her advances. She plots to ruin Don Carlos and he is thrown into prison. Rodrigue, his best friend, is shot by an assassin. Don Carlos, having been freed, makes a tryst with the Queen. Discovered by the King, he is handed over to the Inquisition to be put to death.

From the Ordino Tourist Office.) 35È FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL NARCISO YEPES ORDINO I FUNDACIÓ CRÈDIT ANDORRÀ – On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the death of Narciso Yepes, the Classical National Orchestra of Andorra will pay tribute to one of the 20th century’s most gifted classical guitarists. The programme is directed by the Maestro’s son, Ignacio Yepes. The guitar part in the Concerto d’Aranjuez will be played by GERARDO ARRIAGA. Next, ONCA and IGNACIO YEPES will remember the master with Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 4 in A major.
