EXHIBITIONS

Garden by the young artist Ivan Forcadell. Until Saturday, 4th November at the Galeria Pilar Riberaygua, Centre Historic, Andorra la Vella. Ivan Forcadell, came originally from the Canary Islands but is now based in Barcelona. For the first time in its history the gallery will be transformed to welcome his exhibition. Throughout his short life Forcadell has been able to count on numerous ‘big name’ collaborators from the world of fashion and design. With the title GARDEN, the artist presents a series of paintings, illustrations and sculptures stylistically positioned somewhere between the kitsch and the naïf and inspired by the animal and vegetable world. Forcadell creates from the point of view of a philosophy of “no problem” to bring some happiness to the people who study his work. He is in favour of creating evocative surroundings so as to avoid leaving the public indifferent and that is why he has transformed the gallery into a garden: real lawns, coloured walls, a pool and even a sound installation by the highly innovative Andorran, Lluís Casahuga, so as to reach out to the spectator through as many senses as possible.

Taulé LUX Until Sunday, 5th November at the Government exhibition hall ARTALROC, Escldes-Engordany. After a career spanning fifty-one years, Antoni Taulé exhibits for the first time in Andorra with paintings and photographs made between 1973 and 2016. Antoni Taulé  is one of the most relevant figures in current contemporary art. Born in Sabadell in 1945, he lives and works in Paris. He studied architecture and devoted himself to that profession before dedicating himself fully to painting and photography. His works have been seen in many museums, galleries and cultural centres around the world and they form part of collections of important institutions such as the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Paris and MACBA in Barcelona. He has received numerous awards and was named Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by François Mitterrand.  Taulé’s  works reveal an enigmatic world of his own, placed in front of wide, gloomy, architectural spaces, illuminated by intense, dazzling, theatrical light. These are timeless scenes, inhabited by isolated, solitary characters, immobilized halfway between sleep and awakening.

Culturally yours,

Clare
