OTELLO Wednesday, 28th June at 20.15 at the Cinemes Illa Carlemany, Escaldes-Engordany. Direct from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden Verdi’s Otello. Conducted by ANTONIO PAPPANO. Starring: JONAS KAUFMANN as Otello, MARIA AGRESTA as Desdemona and MARCO VRATOGNA as Iago. The Story: Iago sows the seeds of jealousy in Otello’s mind, fabricating a story of an affair between Iago’s rival Cassio and Otello’s young wife Desdemona. Iago’s trickery cements Otello’s suspicion into mistaken certainty. Otello murders the innocent Desdemona. Confessions lead to the revelation of Iago’s plot. Appalled by the wrong he has committed, Otello kills himself. Duration: Acts I & II 1 hour 15 minutes. Interval 30 minutes. Acts III & IV 1 hour 25 minutes.

JAMBO STREET MUSIC Friday, 30th June from 19h and Saturday, 1st July from 18h in six locations in the Centre Historic, Andorra La Vella. (Ask at any tourist office for the full programme of 30 acts.) And don’t miss CONCERT VERTICAL from 23.30 to midnight on Friday. A combination of music and visuals played across the facade of Casa Bauró while the musicians appear on the balconies: LANDRY RIBA (double bass), ELIAS PORTER (violin), SILVIA GARCIA (viola) JORDI CLARET (cello) and HÉCTOR PÉREZ (acoustic guitar).

Starring GAL GADOT, CHRIS PINE, ROBIN WRIGHT. The Story: Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny. Critics consensus: Thrilling, earnest and buoyed by Gal Gadot’s charismatic performance. Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion.
SPORT
THE UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP. From Monday, June 26th to Sunday, July 2nd at the Vallnord Bike Park and in La Massana. In this leg, the BTT races will be the men’s and women’s Olympic cross-country (XCO) and Downhill (DHI). The number of spectators at the BTT World Cup trials in Andorra has increased in every new edition so why not add to the 35,000 fans that, last year, watched live the spectacular downhill races by the world’s best BTT riders?
